Don Gibbs - Chairman & CEO |
|
Don is a
serial entrepreneur who has been in the electronics industry since 1970. He
started his career with Leigh Instruments and then moved to Mitel
Corporation as its CFO where in 8 years he helped the company go public in
many jurisdictions and grow in sales revenue to $250 million. After that he
became the CFO of Cognos Inc and successfully took it public. This led to
the position of President and CEO of Gandalf Systems Inc and then a similar
position with Positron Fiber Corporation. In three years he spun this
division out as a separate company, took it public and sold it for $200
million US. Don has used his own consulting company to assist many small
corporations in getting started and funded. Don has a Bachelor of
Commerce degree from the University of Ottawa and is a Certified Management
Accountant with the Canadian Society of Management Accountants.

Anton Kitai – President & CTO |
|
Prior to founding Process Photonics, Anton worked as Systems Engineering
Manager at GSI Lumonics in Ottawa, where he has served several roles over
a 7-year period. His
responsibilities included technical leadership of multi-disciplinary
research and development teams responsible for complete product life cycle
from conceptual design through engineering, test, transfer into
production, and sustaining support. He
is highly knowledgeable in the areas of materials processing, lasers,
optics, machine design and component integration while being focused on
near and long-term market and technology positioning through customer
relationships. He has managed
scientists and technicians involved in new systems R&D and sustaining
engineering while developing key technology and patent strategies for the
laser systems business. Anton
holds a B.Eng. in Engineering Physics from McMaster University, Hamilton,
Ontario.

Robert Parker – VP Engineering &
Operations |
|
Robert was
Electrical Engineering Manager at GSI Lumonics in Ottawa before forming
Process Photonics with his partners.
In this position he hired, mentored and managed a team of
electrical, hardware and software engineers and technologists in a matrix
product development team structure. His
responsibilities included providing technical leadership, leading new
product development teams and performing detailed electronic and
electrical design projects. During
a 14-year period Robert has gained expertise and contributed in the
following areas: electronic control systems, laser controls design and
integration, machine design, safety standards compliance, design for
manufacturability and customer service and support.
Robert graduated with a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from the
University of Saskatchewan in 1987.

Ed Williams – Director of Business
Development |
|
Originally a laser and laser systems
Research Scientist, Ed Williams holds several patents on Excimer Laser
design. Over an 11-year
period, Ed held positions as Research Scientist, and Senior Scientist on
major laser development programs at GSI Lumonics.
His roles included leading the research teams in the development of
discharge laser and power modulator design and development, product
support and customer support. Leaving
Lumonics in 1998, Ed joined JDS Uniphase as a Technical Account Manager
and then as a Senior Product Line Manager.
His duties included developing Customer Supply Agreements, Market
and Product Development Plans, directing Operations continuous improvement
plans, driving cost reduction and directly managing the joint product
development of R&D teams in Ottawa and Santa Rosa California.
Ed’s final role with JDS Uniphase was the successful transfer of
Product Line Management and Technical Support of telecommunications
optical components to China.

Bill Young – Director of Sales and Marketing |
|
Bill has a Ph.D. in physics, and enjoyed a 19-year history with GSI Lumonics, starting with the lab
development of the dye laser product line and ending as the Sales Manager
and Product Line Manager of the Ottawa Custom Systems. During this
time Bill gained exposure to all the Ottawa laser products, and a wide
range of laser-based applications and materials processing work. He
contributed to the optical design of a variety of custom systems.
Working out of the Rugby, England facility for 4 years, Bill has broad
international experience including both European and Asia-Pacific
customers. Bill
left Lumonics to join JDS Uniphase in 1999 as a Technical Account Manager,
responsible for the company's major revenue customer at that time. Most
recently he was a Product Line Manager in the components group. Bill's
last activity there was the successful transfer of his product portfolio
and product line management duties to the Asian manufacturing operations.

David Walker - Director of Advanced Technology
|
|
Before joining Process Photonics Dave was with Nortel Networks for five
years defining and developing next generation optical high-capacity
long-haul communication systems working with product line management,
leading suppliers and customers. Prior to working at Nortel Dave was at
GSI Lumonics as a Senior Project Scientist responsible for developing
processes and associated high-powered diode-pumped laser sources for
marking, cutting, drilling and welding industrial applications. Dave has
also spent several years with Clark-MXR as a Senior Scientist developing
ultra high power short pulse frequency agile optical sources after
completing a post-doctoral Research Fellowship at the University of
Toronto. With his unique combination of varied industrial experience and
education Dave is in an ideal position to guide Process Photonics in the
use of next generation technology to meet customer expectations. Dave has
published more than twenty papers and has been awarded more than half a
dozen patents throughout his career.
